Continental Grand Prix 5000 S TR Tire

Although the Continental Grand Prix 5000 is still one of the fastest andmost popular racing bike tires, it didn't stop the developers of theGerman manufacturer from launching a tubeless-ready (TR) version thathas been improved in all areas.
At first glance, the 5000 S TR canhardly be distinguished from the previous version. However, the familiarLazer Grip profile structure conceals a completely newly developedstructure. In contrast to the previous version, the 5000 S TR only has 2instead of 3 layers of fabric under the tread. This ensures a betteradaptation to the ground and contributes significantly to the reductionin rolling resistance of 20%.

Thanks to the Vectran Breaker punctureprotection layer and the grippy Black Chili tread adopted from theprevious version, the reduced number of layers does not have a negativeeffect on the puncture protection. The side walls still consist of 3layers with a newly added protective layer. This not only improves thepuncture protection of the sidewalls by 28%, it also ensures that thetire runs more stable at low air pressures.

A new, patented tube -lessconstruction that works without a sealing rubber layer makes the tire 50grams lighter than the previous version.
Long awaited by many Contifans, the new 5000 S TR is now also compatible with hookless rims. Butit can continue with the classic clincher rims and also with tube bedriven.

The new tubeless tire has already proven its outstandingproperties and versatility in racing. Both the world title in theindividual time trial and the victory at Paris-Roubaix could be achievedon the 5000 ST R..
